"All this has happened before, and it will all happen again. But this time it happened in London. It happened on a quiet street in Bloomsbury. That corner house over there is the home of the Darling family. And Peter Pan chose this particular house because there were people here who believed in him."
This great 8x10 from the 1953 classic Disney film Peter Pan shows the beautiful Tinkerbell surrounded by pixie dust of course! The picture has been signed by Margaret Kerry who was the model/live actor for Tinkerbell and also the legendary Marc Davis.
The character of Tinker Bell was a creation of Marc Davis who was already famous for creating young Bambi, Thumper, and animating Cinderella and Cruella de Vil among others. He developed many of the beloved Disneyland attractions including Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and It's a Small World. Davis is a Disney Legend and one of Disney's Nine Old Men. Using the footage of Margaret's live-action work as a reference, Davis and his team of animators brought the little sprite to life and into the hearts of people everywhere....
Margaret also performed the voice of the red-headed mermaid in the movie. A successful voice-over career ensued, using Margaret's skills in 21 different dialects and 48 various character voices in over 600 animated shows. She is the voice of Spinner and Paddlefoot and the females in the famous vintage "Clutch Cargo" animated series. "Captain Fathom" and "Space Angel" followed. Margaret can also be seen in many of the hilarious live-action segments that open and close the 139 episodes of "The New Three Stooges," as well as be heard in the animated portion voicing all the kids, females, and various odd characters.
Marc Davis is probably the world's most beloved unknown man. Marc's fabulous career spans over 60 years, including 43 years at Disney. In 1988, Marc was officially designated a "Living Legend" by The Walt Disney Company which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Disney artist.
Many of Marc's creations such as Cinderella, Tinker Bell, Sleeping Beauty, Cruella de Vil and the beloved skunk Flower are fond memories for people throughout the world. Disney utilized Marc's humor and storytelling abilities in many of their most popular theme park rides. His contributions to It's A Small World, The Haunted Mansion, and The Pirates of the Caribbean have enchanted millions of visitors. His talent is timeless and future generations will surely cherish his genius as we do today.
